The Scottsdale/Phoenix area is full of fun and interesting things to do, it doesn’t matter if you are a first time visitor or a life long resident, there is plenty to enjoy. If you are a fan of fire fighting you won’t want to miss the one of a kind exhibit available at The Hall of Flame Fire Museum. Fire fighting equipment dating in age from 1725 to 1969 is displayed on almost a full acre of land. While the vast majority of equipment displayed is American there are also pieces from England, France, Austria, Germany and Japan.
The museum painstakingly refurbishes and reconditions fire fighting equipment, restoring it to mint condition. In recent years restoration projects have included a 1924 American LaFrance engine and an 1870 hose carriage. Both of these restored treasures are now on display in the museum
Among the more notable exhibits is the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes, which was designed to honor firemen who fell in the line of duty. This is an emotional but worthwhile exhibit to view. Also featured in the museum is a gallery devoted to the history of wild land firefighting in the U.S.
The Hall is located in Phoenix, Arizona at 6101 East Van Buren St. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 5, and Sundays from Noon to 4. For more information visit: www.hallofflame.org
