Scottsdale Art Walk, by Joe Szabo, Szabo Group
The moderate winter days and the warm spring and summer months make walking a pleasure and if art is your scene the Art Walking opportunities in Scottsdale, Arizona are spectacular. One of the best things about enjoying the local art galleries and browsing for your next find is to enjoy the Scottsdale Art Scene by night. Here you can find glorious desert-scapes, modern art, renderings, drawings, pencil sketches, and pretty much any kind of creative art you can imagine. More so, it’s a fun place to go and inexpensive unless you find yourself craving one of the uniquely crafted works of art to grace your home.
Pretty much every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm the Art Walk takes over the Downtown Arts District. This is the time for local galleries to showcase their newest works, the best and the brightest of their artisans and for the members of the local art scene to mix and mingle. You can window-shop or gallery-hop, the choice is yours. Shapes, forms, textures, colors and designs abound in this magical part of the city. There are horse drawn carriages that can carry you from place to place with a nod and a wink to days gone by.
Each year there are specialty weeks – such as the Western Art walk typically held in October or the Summer Spectacular Art walk held in July. Discovering the art scene in Scottsdale is like finding a diamond amidst the great Sonoran Desert.
